Inventor Name: Mahesh Shastry
Innovation Name: Development of Li-ion Battery based Electric Buggy
Description:
An electric vehicle (EV) is one that operates on an electric motor, instead of an internal combustion engine that generates power by burning a mix of fuel and gases. Therefore, such a vehicle is seen as a possible replacement for current-generation automobiles, in order to address the issue of rising pollution, global warming, depleting natural resources, etc. In this project the lead acid battery equipped buggy was completely changed to Li-ion battery based electric vehicle in Association with Re-Batt Energy solution Pvt. ltd. The advantages of Li- ion battery are eco-friendly, lightweight, and compact, they have a high energy density, low maintenance, more charge cycles, and low self-discharge rate. Due to all these factors, li-ion is the most widely used battery type in not just the auto industry but many other industries. The most popular electric car company Tesla also uses li-ion batteries in its vehicles. This electric buggy runs at a speed of 56 km/h and one full charge runs 130 kms. The weight of the batteries was drastically reduced from 200 kg to 60 kg. In the electric buggy, the lithium- ion battery has a capacity of 6.5 kWH with charger. The working of this system is fully noise free. This gives us more experience in the Electric vehicles sector and makes our life better.
