DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

HoD’s MESSAGE
Dr. Manjunatha K
Head of The Department
Chemistry

The department of Chemistry is one of the oldest departments of Nagarjuna College of Engineering & Technology and was established in the year 2001. Department is doing extremely well with respect to the infrastructure and teaching methodologies. The department offers Engineering Chemistry for I/II semester BE. The department has well qualified, experienced and highly motivated faculty members. Our course is designed to provide knowledge of Engineering & Applied Chemistry to the students and also introduce them to various experimental skills. The subject has become an essential part of the curriculum for all the branches of Engineering. The department is a recognized research centre by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) since 2014. Apart from regular teaching, the faculty are involved in research activities. They have also published many research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals as well as presented their work in several national and international conferences.

COURSE

Chemistry is an interdisciplinary science and is very important for many other disciplines. It offers a lot of scope to the graduates in the various fields. Chemistry plays an important role in development of the society and environmental safety through various jobs in public and private sector organizations. One can find ample career openings with government owned pharmaceutical companies or with other public sector undertaking chemical factories. Chemistry is too universal and dynamically changing a subject to be confined to a fixed definition; it might be better to think of chemistry more as a point of view that places its major focus on the structure and properties of substances. The real importance of Chemistry is that it serves as the interface to practically all of the other sciences, as well as to many other areas of human endeavor. For this reason, Chemistry is often said to be the "central science".
