NCET SCIENCE FEST ON 16.11.2018

Nagarjuna College of Engineering and Technology (NCET), Bengaluru is organizing State Level NCET Science Fest-2018 in collaboration with PoornaPrajna Institute of Scientific Research (PPISR) for Pre university college students of Karnataka on 16th November 2018.

The objective of the science fest is to bring out the hidden talents among the pre-university science students and to provide a platform to showcase their talent and skills. The fest also aims at promoting science education among the younger generation.

Poorna Prajna Institute of Scientific Research (PPISR), promoted and managed by AMEF is situated near Bengaluru International Airport on a 32 acres campus. It was conceptualized and founded in 1998 by the then Pontiff of Udupi Sri Admar Mutt, His Holiness Sri Vibudhesha Theertha Swamiji to carry out innovative and original research in the fundamental and applied sciences. This is enthusiastically carriedforward by the present Chairman, HH Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji to make it a Centre of Excellence in Scientific research.
The institute is recognized by the DSIR, Govt. of India and MAHE, Manipal as an R&D centre. PPISR consists of Theoretical Sciences, Materials Science and Biological Sciences divisions with nine core faculty members. Eleven research scholars have already obtained their PhD degree and several are pursuing research at PPISR. Over 180 research articles have been published in reputed international journals and 3 international patents have been filed among which one US Patent granted so far. Several sponsored research projects from industry and Govt. Agencies have been conducted successfully. Recently, Bharat Ratna Prof. C. N. R. Rao donated a laboratory to PPISR to carry out research in the field of Materials Science which is recognition in itself for PPISR.

About NCET

Nagarjuna College of Engineering & Technology (NCET) was established in the year 2001 by the promoters of NCC Ltd with the banner of Nagarjuna Education Society (NES) under the leadership of Shri. J. V. Ranga Raju, a leading industrialist and philanthropist, whose endeavor has been to motivate the younger generation to dream big and strive towards the fulfillment of their dreams. Our college is an Autonomous institute under VTU, Accredited by NBA and NAAC with ‘A’ Grade, An ISO 9001: 2008 Certified Institution, Recognized by Govt. of Karnataka, Approved by AICTE & UGC-Govt. of India.

Nagarjuna College of Engineering & Technology offers courses such as B.E in Computer Science, Information Science, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. NCET also offers Post Graduate courses such as M.Tech in VLSI, Machine Design, Computer Science, Structural Engineering and Construction Technology and MBA in HR, Marketing and Finance. College also offers PhD programmes.

  • Number of Participants: Individual/ Team with maximum 5 members.
  • Multiple teams from same college are allowed.
  • Live and demo projects get more points.
  • Judges decision will be final.

Evaluation of the Project is based on the following criteria:-

  • Scientific thought and approach
  • Originality and innovations in the model
  • Economic (low cost/portability/durability)
  • Presentation (demonstration & explanation)

Rules and Regulations for Quiz

  • Team entries of two members are eligible.(Multiple teams from same college are allowed)
  • The participants shall not be allowed to use mobile or other electronic devices.
  • The decision of the quiz-master will be final.

Tech Talk

Tech talk is a technical idea presentation competition where students have to present their innovative ideas related to Science and Technology.

Rules and Regulations for Tech Tal

  • Participation may be individual or a team with a maximum of two
  • The participants are provided with computer & Projector and are advised to carry their PPT/ Videos in pendrive only.
  • The time duration for the presentation is 4+1 minutes. Participants exceeding the time limit might lose points.
  • The decision of the Judges will be final.

Debate:

Rules and Regulations for Debate

  • It is an Individual Event.
  • The time duration is 3+2 minutes. Participants crossing the time limit will be disqualified.
  • The topics of the debate are as follows
  • Is Social media beneficial or harmful to the Society?
  • Should animals be used for scientific Testing & Experiments?
  • Should Artificial Intelligence be seen as a threat?
  • The students have to speak ‘for’ or ‘against’ on any one of the above mentioned topics.
  • Judges decision will be final.

 The judgment will be on the basis of following criteria

  • Content
  • Body language
  • Time Management
  • Presentation Skills
